Recycle that old pillowcase into an awesome throw pillow

| Recycled pillows, so fresh and fun! |
- old pillowcase
- scotch tape
- fabric paint
- paint brush (foam brushes work well)
- scissors
- pins
- sewing machine (or needle and thread if you're doing it by hand)
- stuffing (i used poly-fil)
The first thing you will do is cut your pillowcase in half, so that you have the front and the back as two separate pieces. Then you will cut these rectangles into two matching squares. You don't have to, you could leave them as a rectangle if you want, it'll just be a bigger pillow and require more paint.
Next, decide what sort of design you want on your pillow. I went with this flower design. Then you will take your scotch tape and use it to make a design on your pillowcase. It doesn't have to be perfect and it doesn't have to be anything really. You can make stripes or whatever. It'll all look cool when you're done!
Once you've got your tape down, get your paint and brush out. I like to pour my paint into a paper plate and dab it onto my fabric. Because you have tape on your pillow, be careful about "brushing" the paint on. You don't want to pull the tape up. It's best to stamp it down onto the fabric which is why a sponge brush works best. You can either cover your square in the paint or do it like i did, and just keep it darkest around the taped design. Let it dry completely when you're done. You don't want to mess up all you're hard work!
Once the paint has dried, you can pull off the tape. It's so fun to see how it turns out!
Now you're ready to turn your artwork into a pillow. Take your two squares and have the outsides face each other so it is inside out. now pin it together around the edges and sew 3 and a half sides. make sure you leave a couple inches un-sewn so that you can turn it back right side out.
When that is done, it's time for stuffing! Fill it up as much as you want. When you're happy with that, sew up the opening. Hey, you've just made a throw-pillow! Easy huh? I want to fill my house with throw pillows now! Good luck and have fun!!
