Homemade Sugar Body Scrub - DIY
I love body scrubs. They leave your skin so smooth and soft. The only problem is that they get used up pretty fast since they are for your whole body, unlike face scrub, and they are not cheap. I bought some not that long ago for about $18. It lasted a couple weeks and I would watch in horror as I inevitably would drop some down the shower as I would scoop it out of the container.
Well, I wanted to share with you a way to make this stuff at home and it works exactly as well as what you would buy in the store but this will cost you pennies!

Well, I wanted to share with you a way to make this stuff at home and it works exactly as well as what you would buy in the store but this will cost you pennies!
Here is what you will need:
- Oil (I used olive oil, but you can use nearly anything: jojoba, vegetable...whatever you like)
- Sugar (I just used plain old white sugar, but I hear you can use brown sugar, and I would imagine raw sugar would work well too)
- A jar to keep it in (preferably plastic since it'll be in your shower and you don't want to risk dropping glass)
- Something to mix it with (I used a wooden popsicle stick)
Optional:
- scented oil (lavendar etc.) make sure its safe for skin!
- vitamin E
- aloe vera
- honey
I don't have an exact recipe but here is what I did and it turned out great. First take your clean jar and fill it about half way with sugar. Then slowly add a little oil and mix it up. Keep doing this until it's a runny goopy mixture. At this point it is ready to be used but if you wanted to add fragrance, vitamin E, or anything else you would like, go right ahead! I am loving how soft this makes my skin and I feel so silly for ever paying so much for this in the store! Something cool about sugar is that it dissolves in water so if you have sensitive skin, you don't have to worry about over-scrubbing and you also don't have to worry about it clogging up your drains.
It's good for you, AND good for the planet!
Good luck and have fun!
